Queensland police seize child abuse material, arrest four men and urge online safety talks

Four men were arrested in Queensland on a total of 57 child exploitation charges, prompting police to call on parents to discuss internet safety with their children.

Over a three-day period, federal and Queensland police conducted synchronized searches in Herberton, East Barron, Greenslopes and Innisfail, resulting in the arrest of four men on a combined 57 child exploitation offences. The suspects, ranging from 21 to 57 years old, were charged with offences such as possessing, sharing and downloading child sexual abuse material, as well as related drug and weapon charges. Seized devices revealed evidence of grooming a minor and extensive illegal content.

While three of the men were remanded in custody, the East Barron suspect was released on bail pending a December court appearance. Detective Acting Inspector Les Lucas emphasized the lasting trauma inflicted on victims and urged parents to maintain ongoing conversations about online safety. Helplines for support were provided for affected families and children.
