Quentin Grimes, 26, signed a four-year, $60 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, which includes a player option for the 2029-30 season. The deal follows a period in which he played for the Knicks, Pistons, Mavericks and 76ers, often being traded multiple times in a single year. Grimes said the Lakers offered the stability he sought, as well as familiarity with former teammates and coaches, including a brief stint with Luka Doncic in Dallas and offseason work with JJ Redick.
He will join a projected starting lineup featuring Doncic, Austin Reaves and recent addition Walker Kessler. The Lakers expect him to be a consistent scoring option and the team's primary defender on the perimeter. Grimes expressed enthusiasm for the increased offensive and defensive responsibilities the role entails.
