Quezon City disbands Task Force Disiplina after officer kills three teens
Quezon City dissolved its Task Force Disiplina after a member shot and killed three teenagers during a curfew.
On Oct 13, Quezon City announced the abolition of its Task Force Disiplina, created in 2019 to enforce local ordinances, after a task-force officer, Alvince Tolentino, shot three teenagers in Barangay Batasan Hills during curfew hours. The incident occurred at 2 a.m. on Senatorial Street near Batasan-San Mateo Road, leaving one minor dead; Tolentino, reportedly intoxicated, is now in police custody facing three murder counts.
Police station commander Gemmer Tubiera said the officer confronted the youths who were still outside the curfew zone. The city clarified that it never issued firearms to task-force members. Mayor Joy Belmonte directed all members to revert to the Department of Public Order and Safety and to submit NBI clearances, undergo neuropsychological exams, drug tests and background checks to keep their positions. The move underscores the administration’s stance that irresponsible gun use has no place in public service.
