Rabbi Charged with Murder After Fatal Crash at Camarillo Costco Gas Station
A Ventura County rabbi was arrested on a murder charge after a man was killed in a vehicle collision near the gas pumps of the new Costco in Camarillo.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office reported that a call came in Tuesday night about a pedestrian being hit near the gas pumps at the newly built Costco in Camarillo. Witnesses identified the driver as Abba Bryski, an Agoura Hills resident listed as an educator and rabbi, who was subsequently detained and arrested on a murder count. The victim, a 28-year-old man from Modesto, was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
Bryski faces felony murder and a separate charge for resisting, obstructing, or delaying an officer or EMT. The Major Crimes Bureau is handling the case as a homicide, and an autopsy will be performed by the Ventura County medical examiner. A court hearing is scheduled for Friday, and it remains unclear whether the tragedy will affect the store’s planned opening.
