Raheem Sterling appears in court on dangerous-driving and nitrous-oxide charges
Former England forward Raheem Sterling attended Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court for his first hearing after being charged with dangerous driving, nitrous-oxide possession and failing to provide a specimen.
Raheem Sterling, the former England striker, turned up at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court wearing dark clothing for his inaugural court appearance. He is accused of dangerous driving, possession of nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation and refusing to supply a specimen after a solo collision on the M3 southbound near Minley on 28 May. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary reported that the incident involved no other vehicles and resulted in no injuries.
After his arrest, Sterling’s representative said the player has felt “worthless” and overlooked in recent years. The footballer, who has played for Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and most recently Feyenoord, faces the legal process while his future in the sport remains uncertain.
