Rain triggers small sinkhole on Ganga Expressway, crews repair quickly

Heavy rain caused a brief depression on the Ganga Expressway near Bijnor, prompting a rapid repair response that restored traffic flow.

Intense precipitation on Aug 14 led to a small section of the Ganga Expressway sinking between the villages of Faiyaznagar and Sahdara Milak in Hasanpur tehsil, Bijnor. Residents reported a depression resembling a pothole, prompting local officials to dispatch the expressway maintenance team. Engineers inspected the damage and commenced repairs on the spot, finishing the work shortly thereafter.

A video of the repair activity circulated widely on social media. Authorities emphasized that the problem was confined to a limited stretch and that traffic resumed without interruption. An unnamed engineer from the UP Expressways Industrial Development Authority said such occurrences are not unusual during the rainy season and that the department maintains constant surveillance of the roadway.
