Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha claims Punjab draft roll marks him as shifted

Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, a former AAP nominee who joined the BJP this year, accused the Punjab government of political revenge after his name was marked as “shifted” in the state’s draft electoral roll. In a post on X, he highlighted that his voter ID is registered in Mohali and questioned why the draft list classified him as shifted, suggesting the move was orchestrated by officials under the AAP administration. Chadha warned that officers involved in the Special Intensive Revision, from local BLOs to the Chief Electoral Officer, are vulnerable to pressure because their careers depend on the state government.

He cited Election Commission guidelines that protect public representatives, claiming those rules were ignored in his case. The AAP countered that the roll revision is a federal Election Commission task, not a state decision, and noted Chadha’s residence in Delhi, urging an investigation into alleged backdated registration attempts in Rajinder Nagar. The draft roll, released in August, removed 20.66 lakh names, with a claims and objections window running until mid-September and final publication slated for October 2026.
