Raley's to close several California and Nevada stores as part of regional downsizing

The Raley’s Companies, a California supermarket founded during the Great Depression, is shutting down several stores in California and Nevada as part of a regional downsizing effort. A spokesperson said the decision reflects local market conditions, declining foot traffic and increasing operating expenses, and that the company will let leases on the underperforming sites lapse. Recent closures include stores in Roseville and Antioch, as well as a Nob Hill Foods location in Mountain View that affected roughly 50 employees, who may be transferred to other sites.

Despite the seven closures, Raley’s will still run more than 100 locations under names such as Raley’s, Nob Hill Foods, Bel Air, Bashas’, and others. The chain also announced a new Raley’s O-N-E Market slated to open in Madera north of Fresno in spring 2027. The move mirrors broader industry trimming, with discount retailer Grocery Outlet also planning store closures.
