Ransomware attack forces SoftBank subsidiary to shut down cloud services for hundreds of clients
IDC Frontier, a SoftBank Corp. subsidiary, confirmed a ransomware intrusion that disabled parts of its IDCC Cloud platform, affecting 495 corporate and municipal users.
IDC Frontier Inc., owned by SoftBank Corp., reported that a ransomware-based cyberattack disrupted its IDCC Cloud service early Wednesday morning. The incident affected 495 corporate and municipal customers, causing website outages and interrupting logistics for Nissui Corp.'s frozen-food supply chain. Government sites for Ibaraki prefecture and its police department also became inaccessible.
IDC Frontier shut down the compromised portion of the platform to prevent secondary damage and potential data exposure, and is currently verifying the integrity of all services. A statement allegedly from the attackers circulated online, but the firm said its authenticity is under investigation. In a press release, the company apologized for the inconvenience and said it will resume services after confirming safety.
