Rashida Tlaib faces backlash for backing challengers to two Jewish Florida Democrats

Rashida Tlaib appeared at a Fort Fort Lauderdale gathering on Friday, where left-leaning organizations promoted three congressional hopefuls, including two socialists aiming to defeat Jared Moskowitz and Debbie Wasserman Schultz. The event, titled “Chomp the Oligarchy,” was hosted by groups such as Gen Z For Change and the Florida Youth Justice Coalition. Florida’s only Jewish Republican, Fine, denounced Tlaib’s involvement, suggesting it was intentional and would not sit well with Florida voters, while also linking the progressive surge to antisemitic sentiment.

Critics have repeatedly accused Tlaib of supporting Hamas, though she rejects antisemitism charges. DSA-affiliated challengers have already unseated incumbents in New York, Colorado and Michigan, where Dr. Abdul El-Sayed beat Haley Stevens for the Senate nomination. Neither Moskowitz nor Wasserman Schultz responded to inquiries, and Tlaib’s team did not address Fine’s remarks.
