Rattlesnake bites woman then returns to attack her cat in LA backyard

A woman in Los Angeles County suffered a rattlesnake bite on her index finger while tidying her cat’s toys outdoors and was promptly taken to a local hospital where she received antivenom. She described losing feeling in her legs, facial numbness, and difficulty swallowing as the venom took effect. A day later, still recovering, the same snake returned and bit her cat, Magic, prompting another emergency response.

Snake specialist Cary Quashen from the Snake School in Santa Clarita located and removed the reptile after an extended search. He cautioned that hotter weather across Southern California is driving rattlesnakes into residential yards, heightening danger for children and pets. Recent similar incidents in Calabasas and Lake Oroville underscore the growing threat.
