RCMP arrests two Air Canada ground staff over cocaine and cannabis smuggling at Montreal airport

The RCMP announced the arrest of two Air Canada employees who are accused of facilitating the import of cocaine and the export of cannabis through Montreal's Trudeau International Airport. The investigation, sparked by the interception of 62.5 kilograms of cocaine hidden in backpacks on a flight from Punta Cana, also uncovered an additional 56 kilograms of cannabis. Police carried out search warrants at two residences, a vehicle and the airline's work base in Doror, Quebec, with cooperation from Air Canada.

The suspects, who held various ground-crew positions, are alleged to have moved luggage through secure zones to aid the drug operation. Both individuals will be questioned and have been released pending further proceedings. Air Canada has placed the employees on suspension while the case proceeds.
