Rødt condemns government electricity policy amid record state earnings from power

In a written response to parliament, Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg detailed the state’s earnings from electricity production, including dividends, taxes and concession fees, amounting to a significant sum between 2021 and 2025. Rødt representative Bjørnar Moxnes criticised the figure as an unjust wealth transfer from citizens and firms, saying promises of modest price increases were a falsehood. He linked the rise in prices to export cables to the UK and Germany and the adoption of European market pricing, which he claims harms purchasing power across the economy.

Government State Secretary Marte Haabeth Grindaker countered that the "Norgespris" system provides price stability and that the ruling party seeks low costs, low emissions and reliable supply. She also noted that Rødt supported the price floor while other parties opposed it, and highlighted new fixed-price contracts for businesses as part of the policy.
