Ready Brek and Tesco porridge withdrawn after beetle contamination discovered
Ready Brek and Tesco Super Smooth Porridge batches have been recalled because they may contain flour beetles, prompting retailers to remove them from shelves.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland announced a recall of specific Ready Brek Original (750 g and 450 g) and Tesco Super Smooth Porridge products after detecting flour beetles in the cereal. These insects, which feed on grains, render the affected batches unsuitable for consumption. Retailers have been instructed to pull the items from stores and post recall notices, while consumers are warned not to eat the implicated products.
Why it matters
Contaminated food can pose health risks, and recalls protect consumers from ingesting pests.
