Reality TV star Jen Shah set to finish federal sentence on Aug. 28

Former “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” cast member Jen Shah will be released from federal custody on Friday, Aug. 28, after completing her sentence under home confinement.

Jen Shah, known from “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,” will conclude her federal sentence on Friday, Aug. 28, after nearly eight months of home confinement following 33 months behind bars. She was sentenced in January 2023 to six and a half years for conspiracy to commit wire fraud tied to a telemarketing operation, with orders to forfeit $6.5 million and pay up to $6.5 million in restitution. After serving part of the term at the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas, she was moved to community confinement overseen by the Bureau of Prisons’ Phoenix Residential Reentry Management office.

Because her release date falls on a Sunday, BOP policy advances it to the prior business day. Shah’s representative described her as grateful, hopeful, and focused on rebuilding her life and family relationships.

Why it matters

The release marks the end of a high-profile fraud conviction and shows how celebrity cases navigate the federal prison system.
