Rebeca Bernal Close to Joining Manchester United Ahead of WSL Deadline

Rebeca Bernal, a 28-year-old Mexican international who plays centre-back and can also slot into midfield, is on the verge of a transfer to Manchester United before the Women's Super League deadline. United would add her as their fourth incoming player of the season, following goalkeeper Janina Leitzig, defender Andrea Medina and winger Monica Jusu Bah. Bernal is contracted with the Washington Spirit until 2027, meaning Manchester United must reach an agreement with the NWSL side.

She joined Washington from Monterrey in February 2025 after the American club paid an undisclosed fee, and has since appeared in more than 40 games across all competitions, netting two goals. Bernal has also earned over 60 caps for Mexico, winning gold at the 2023 Pan American Games and a Best XI selection at the 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup. Recent match reports show she was listed as an excused absence for Washington's recent games, fueling speculation about her departure.
