Record share of U.S. workers fear AI could make their jobs obsolete
A Gallup poll shows 27% of American employees now worry that technology will eliminate their jobs, the highest level recorded.
The latest Gallup survey finds that more than a quarter of U.S. workers are concerned about AI-driven job loss, with the figure climbing to 34% among those aged 18 to 44. Anxiety over benefits cuts, layoffs, lower wages and shorter hours remains steady. Both college-educated and non-college workers report growing unease. While lawmakers have floated ideas to mitigate AI’s impact, no consensus has emerged, and some data suggest AI could also generate new employment overall.
