Red Alert Activated in Bacău as 36 Children Report Food Poisoning Symptoms

Authorities in Bacău county have launched a Red Intervention Plan after 36 children aged 6 to 14 from Căiuți reported illness consistent with food poisoning.

A Red Intervention Plan was activated on Tuesday in Bacău county following reports that 36 children, aged between 6 and 14, from the commune of Căiuți experienced symptoms typical of a foodborne illness. Emergency crews from ISU Bacău and the county ambulance service deployed five SMURD ambulances, two multi-patient transport vehicles and six SAJ units, with additional support from ISU Vrancea, including a special transport vehicle and a minibuss.

Twenty children were admitted to the emergency department of Spitalul Municipal Onești, while the other sixteen are being evaluated at an advanced medical point set up in Căiuți. Medical personnel remain on site, and 112 calls are still being received and triaged. Authorities are treating the incident as a possible food-poisoning cluster and are working to identify its cause and source, adjusting the scale of the response as needed.
