Red Bull appoints former Aston Martin engineer Tom McCullough as head of racing starting 2027

Red Bull has secured Tom McCullough, formerly the performance director at Aston Martin, to become its head of racing from the beginning of 2027. The 50-year-old British engineer succeeds Gianpiero Lambiase, who will move to McLaren as chief racing officer at some point before 2028. In a statement, Red Bull expressed enthusiasm for the depth of knowledge McCullough brings to the role, which will operate under team principal Laurent Mekies.

McCullough spent over ten years with the team now called Aston Martin, previously known as Force India and Racing Point, and earlier worked for Williams and Sauber. A 2025 restructuring moved him from the F1 race team to Aston Martin’s performance technologies division. Lambiase, noted for his close radio partnership with Max Verstappen, will depart Red Bull following the transition.
