Red Bull seeks engine upgrade after FIA denies extra development

During the initial ADUO checkpoint, Red Bull's power unit was found to be over 2% faster than all other manufacturers, resulting in the FIA refusing the team any additional development time or budget. Red Bull contested the finding, but FIA single-seater director Nikolas Tombazis affirmed the measurement's accuracy and upheld the ruling. He acknowledged dissatisfaction among teams but argued the system functions as intended and suggested future improvements to reduce controversy.

Ahead of the Italian Grand Prix, a second ADUO review will take place, potentially allowing Red Bull to receive a limited engine upgrade. The team, currently ranking third-fastest on most circuits and often fourth, believes such an upgrade could make it competitive with the leading Mercedes power unit. Red Bull continues to focus on aerodynamic upgrades while pressing for the chance to develop its engine further.
