Reform Party files police report and legal action against ITV over undercover expose

Reform’s home affairs spokesman Zia Yusuf said the party has reported ITV and several of its journalists to police and will pursue civil lawsuits, alleging fraud and election law breaches.

Reform’s spokesperson Zia Yusuf disclosed that the party has lodged police reports against ITV, its board of directors, and several journalists, asserting they broke fraud and election laws while producing an undercover documentary. The hidden camera footage reportedly includes Reform councillors and candidates describing black children as “animals” and labeling Asian families as an “infestation.” Yusuf further alleged that the undercover reporter forged her passport to secure a press officer role within the party and accused ITV of conducting psychological warfare to sow fear and paranoia among activists.

He said the party will initiate civil proceedings against the network and its staff, emphasizing that volunteers suffered mental manipulation. No specific police authority was identified, and both Reform and ITV were asked for comment. The issue was also raised in Parliament, where a senior minister urged decisive action against the racist remarks revealed in the film.

Why it matters

The allegations raise questions about media ethics, potential legal breaches, and the impact of undercover reporting on political parties.
