Reform UK councillor resigns after undercover tape alleges racist and anti-monarch remarks

Dean Miller, a Reform UK councillor in Bromley, quit after secret recordings captured him making racist comments and claiming King Charles is Muslim.

Dean Miller, who won a Reform UK council seat in Bromley in May, was secretly recorded while canvassing for the party during the Makerfield parliamentary by-election. In the audio he alleged that London had undergone “ethnic cleansing,” complained about growing Nigerian communities in his borough, and referred to local black children as “animals.” He also claimed that King Charles is a Muslim and suggested the monarch had betrayed the country.

Miller told investigators he was heavily medicated for a chronic pain condition at the time. After the undercover footage was released, he resigned from Reform UK and is now recorded as an independent councillor on Bromley Council’s website. Labour Party chair Bridget Phillipson called the remarks “truly sickening” and demanded immediate removal of any racist members, while Reform UK said it is investigating those featured and reviewing its vetting process. The controversy adds pressure on party leader Nigel Farage to address extremist elements within the party.
