Regional aviation safety leaders gather in Muscat for multi-nation coordination talks
The Civil Aviation Authority of Oman opened the eighth Safety Enhancement Implementation Group meeting and the National Continuous Monitoring Coordinators gathering in Muscat, bringing together dozens of Middle Eastern and African aviation officials.
Oman's Civil Aviation Authority launched the eighth session of the Safety Enhancement Implementation Group alongside the National Continuous Monitoring Coordinators Meeting in Muscat, with ICAO's Middle East Regional Office providing cooperation. Attendees represent a broad swath of the region, including Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Egypt, Libya, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Jordan and Nigeria, together with ICAO and IATA officials.
The agenda focuses on evaluating outcomes from the previous regional aviation safety group meeting and measuring advances toward the 2026-2028 safety plan. Participants will also examine the development of National Aviation Safety Plans and State Safety Programmes, receive briefings on the Continuous Monitoring Approach within the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme, and discuss challenges and best practices shared by continuous monitoring coordinators. The forum aims to strengthen regional cooperation and boost collective capability in safety oversight.
