Registered sex offender arrested after allegedly locking residents inside Santa Rosa home
Police say 36-year-old Edward Carver broke into a Santa Rosa house, barred the front door and was later caught after a prior incident of peeping and lewd remarks.
Santa Rosa police arrested Edward Carver, 36, after he allegedly entered a home on the 2700 block of Mohawk Street and repeatedly closed the front door to prevent residents from leaving. One occupant managed to pin Carver against a wall, yet he escaped before law enforcement could intervene. Earlier that night, officers received a report of a man peering into another house’s window and directing sexual remarks toward a resident, leading to a coordinated search of the area.
Carver was later found concealed in vegetation on Yuma Street and taken into custody. The department disclosed his status as a registered sex offender because of the seriousness of the new charges, which include burglary, false imprisonment and loitering with intent to observe. He was booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility on $250,000 bail and faces an additional parole violation charge, with a court appearance scheduled for Monday.
