Regulator shuts down 65 Victorian childcare centres after intensive inspections
A Victorian childcare operator has been ordered to close all 65 of its centres following a regulatory inspection sweep, and four staff members were suspended over safety concerns.
The state's childhood regulatory authority conducted a rapid series of inspections that found widespread non-compliance at a large daycare provider. As a result, the provider must cease operations at each of its 65 locations. In addition, four educators were suspended after allegations that they posed a risk to children’s safety. The regulator warned that any provider that does not meet standards will face further action.
