Regulatory inspection uncovers serious safety gaps at Plastic Surgery Center clinics

During an unplanned audit of Plastic Surgery Center's facilities in Tampere and Helsinki, the Licensing and Supervision Authority was joined by the Drug Safety and Development Centre and the Safety and Chemicals Agency. The joint team identified a range of serious patient-safety violations, such as improper organization of medication services, flawed drug administration practices, inadequate handling of patient documentation, and insufficient hygiene and infection-prevention measures.

Equipment upkeep and operating-room protocols also fell short of regulatory expectations, with key medical devices failing to demonstrate compliance. Additionally, inspectors found a pharmaceutical product lacking a sales licence. The authorities also observed staff manually washing both reusable and single-use components of a fat-injection device contrary to manufacturer instructions.
