REI Expo 2026 poised to attract over ₹2,800 crore in bioenergy investments
The Renewable Energy India Expo scheduled for Oct 22-24 in Greater Noida is expected to unlock more than ₹2,800 crore in new bio-energy funding, about 12 % of the GOBARdhan scheme budget.
The Renewable Energy India Expo (REI) 2026, set for Oct 22-24 at the India Expo Mart & Centre in Greater Noida, will feature the biggest Bio-Energy Pavilion to date, with 35 % more exhibitors than the previous year. The Indian Biogas Association expects the expo to catalyse over ₹2,800 crore in new investment for the bio-energy sector, representing nearly 12 % of the ₹23,731 crore GOBARdhan National Circular Bioenergy Scheme launched in August.
Supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the pavilion will display innovations in waste-to-energy, compressed biogas, co-digestion and digital monitoring. A R Shukla, president of the IBA, said biogas is now a core element of India’s clean-energy strategy, aided by guaranteed pricing and offtake under GOBARdhan. Chairman Gaurav Kedia highlighted the scheme’s role in reducing fuel imports, creating jobs and fostering a circular economy. The three-day expo anticipates more than 70,000 global participants across bioenergy, solar, wind, hydrogen, e-mobility and storage sectors.
Why it matters
The expo could channel billions into India's bio-energy market, speeding clean-fuel production and cutting fuel import dependence.
