Reliance and Rolls-Royce team up to create engine for India's AMCA fighter

Reliance Industries and British aerospace leader Rolls-Royce have agreed to investigate a joint effort to build the engine for India's fifth-generation AMCA fighter. A joint statement outlined plans for an Aerospace Gas Turbine Complex that would cover design, development, testing, production and long-term maintenance within India. The partnership seeks to combine Rolls-Royce's century-long propulsion know-how with Reliance's technology, manufacturing scale and execution strength.

Executives described the venture as a milestone for creating a self-sufficient aerospace ecosystem that could eventually serve defence, civil aviation and emerging propulsion projects. While the intent is clear, no formal joint venture or contract has been signed, and details on investment, ownership or timeline remain undisclosed. If realised, the complex would give India end-to-end capability for combat engine development, reducing reliance on foreign suppliers.
