Rema 1000 pulls chocolate-covered popcorn over hidden hazelnut risk

Rema 1000 is recalling its Sjoko Popp chocolate-coated popcorn because it may contain undeclared hazelnuts, endangering nut-allergic consumers.

The 90-gram Sjoko Popp popcorn, sold in Rema 1000 stores nationwide, is being withdrawn for batches with a best-before date of 04.10.2027. The recall follows a finding that some packages could contain hazelnuts not listed on the label. People with hazelnut allergies are urged not to eat the snack and can return it for a refund, while others may still consume it safely.

Why it matters

Undeclared allergens can trigger severe reactions, so the recall safeguards nut-allergic shoppers.
