Remnants of tropical storm Josephine bring rain and wind to Norway
After the weekend storm Boelo, Norway faces another weather system as the remains of tropical storm Josephine move in, bringing rain and gusty winds.
Following the disruptive weekend storm named Boelo, a new weather system is approaching Norway, consisting of the lingering effects of tropical storm Josephine. Yr indicates that, although the system has weakened while crossing the Atlantic, it will still deliver rain and strong winds, with the most intense impacts expected on coastal regions and higher terrain. The previous storm caused thousands of households to lose electricity and pushed river levels to orange alerts at seven monitoring stations.
Flooding forced the closure of the E6 highway in both directions between Lillehammer and Biri. In Bergen, fire crews had to secure steel plates that had come loose from a commercial building, while on Askøy a trampoline was blown away and later secured. In Mandal, wind stripped roof tiles from a police station. Residents are advised to prepare for continued wet and windy weather over the coming days.
