Renault India aims for hybrids and CNG to make up half of sales within three years
Renault India's chief executive Stephane Deblaise said the company could see hybrids and CNG models together account for about 50% of its power-train mix in the next two to three years.
Renault India CEO Stephane Deblaise indicated that hybrids and CNG powertrains might together represent roughly 50% of the company's sales mix within the next two to three years, although no explicit target has been set. The firm recently launched a strong-hybrid Duster SUV, delivering 29 km per litre according to ARAI, and is preparing factory-fitted CNG variants, with a CNG-powered Triber MPV aimed at the sub-four-metre segment.
Deblaise described hybrids as a practical interim solution as the electric vehicle ecosystem matures and diesel volumes fall under tighter regulations. He emphasized that hybrid pricing would be on par with diesel while offering superior fuel efficiency and customer experience. The automaker also reiterated its broader futuREady plan to roll out seven new models, including strong hybrids and EVs, and to generate about €2 billion in annual exports from India by 2030.
Why it matters
Renault's shift toward hybrids and CNG could reshape India's car market and influence future fuel-type adoption.
