Renault India rolls out hybrid Duster and eyes CNG models to reshape its lineup
Renault launched a strong-hybrid version of its Duster SUV in India and said it will add factory-fitted CNG variants, aiming to diversify its power-train portfolio.
Renault India CEO Stephane Deblaise indicated that hybrids and CNG powertrains might together represent roughly 50% of the company's sales mix within the next two to three years, although no explicit target has been set. The firm recently launched a strong-hybrid Duster SUV, delivering 29 km per litre according to ARAI, and is preparing factory-fitted CNG variants, with a CNG-powered Triber MPV aimed at the sub-four-metre segment.
Deblaise described hybrids as a practical interim solution as the electric vehicle ecosystem matures and diesel volumes fall under tighter regulations. He emphasized that hybrid pricing would be on par with diesel while offering superior fuel efficiency and customer experience. The automaker also reiterated its broader futuREady plan to roll out seven new models, including strong hybrids and EVs, and to generate about €2 billion in annual exports from India by 2030.
