Renault unveils electric E-Space concept at Paris Motor Show, revisiting the iconic Espace legacy
Renault displayed an electrified version of its historic Espace model, the E-Space concept, at the Paris Motor Show, highlighting the vehicle’s evolution over six generations.
At the Paris Motor Show, Renault introduced the E-Space concept, an electric reinterpretation of its long-standing Espace model. Visitors could see the familiar shape updated with a zero-emission drivetrain, underscoring the brand’s push toward electrification. The Espace’s story began in 1978 when Matra’s Philippe Guédon, commissioned by Jean-Luc Lagardère, observed the popularity of spacious American vans and sought to adapt the idea for Europe.
Since then, the model has progressed through six generations, becoming an emblem of Renault’s distinctive design. The new concept serves both as a tribute to that heritage and a test of market appetite for a contemporary, electric MPV offering.
Why it matters
It signals Renault’s strategy to revive the MPV segment with an electric model, reflecting broader industry shifts toward electrification.
