Renfe sends newly delivered Stadler commuter trains to maintenance for safety check

Renfe moved its freshly commissioned model 453 trains, built by Stadler for the Cercanías Madrid network, to a workshop after a safety-system incident was detected. The company clarified that the units remain part of the operating fleet and that temporary maintenance is a standard practice, even for trains that have only been in service for a few weeks. The minister of transport, Óscar Puente, highlighted the trains as the best option for renewing Madrid's commuter service and thanked Stadler for meeting delivery timelines.

The new fleet includes high-capacity T100 and T200 configurations, with the former offering up to 912 seats and the latter designed for flexible length adjustments. Initial deliveries began in early September, and further units are scheduled to arrive monthly through 2026.
