Renowned actress Marina Vlady passes away at age 88, family reports
Marina Vlady, the celebrated French actress, died at 88, with her family saying she passed away at home surrounded by relatives and animals.
Marina Vlady, born Marina Poliakoff-Baïdaroff to a Russian ballet dancer and an opera singer who settled in France, died at the age of 88, her family announcing she died at home surrounded by loved ones and pets. Her career spanned film, music and literature, with notable performances in "La Princesse de Clèves" (1961) and "Le lit conjugal" (1963). She frequently collaborated with her then-husband Robert Hossein and also worked under Jean-Luc Godard, appearing alongside stars such as Philippe Noiret and Marcello Mastroianni.
During the 1970s she moved to the USSR for twelve years, motivated by love for her third husband, poet-singer Vladimir Vyssotsky. In 2022 she authored an open letter to the Russian newspaper one outlet urging an end to the war in Ukraine. Her children described her life as long, beautiful and richly lived.
