Renowned architect Datuk Saiful Anuar charged with molesting teen in mall sauna

Datuk Saiful Anuar Abdul Aziz, a 61-year-old architect, was arraigned on a molestation charge after allegedly assaulting an 18-year-old in a shopping-mall sauna.

In Ampang, architect Datuk Saiful Anuar Abdul Aziz, aged 61, faced a charge of molesting an 18-year-old boy inside a sauna room at a mall gym on Oct 18 at 7.10 pm. The charge sheet alleges he applied criminal force by touching several parts of the victim’s body with intent to outrage his modesty, violating Section 354 of the Penal Code, which carries up to ten years’ imprisonment. He pleaded not guilty before magistrate Siti Nurul Ain Ariffin.

Deputy public prosecutor M. Ramanathan Alias Ashwin requested RM15,000 bail and that Saiful surrender his passport, citing overseas projects. Defense lawyer K. Theivaendran contested the passport condition, claiming no flight risk, and asked for lower bail. The court set bail at RM9,000 with one surety and ordered the passport to be surrendered, after which Saiful Anuar was released at 11.10 am. A further hearing is scheduled for Nov 26.
