Renowned forensic expert challenges official ruling on Jeffrey Epstein's death

Forensic pathologist Michael Freeman will present an independent biomechanical analysis that disputes the conclusion that Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide in his New York jail cell.

Michael Freeman, a distinguished forensic pathologist and epidemiologist, is set to deliver a biomechanical assessment that challenges the official suicide determination in the 2019 death of Jeffrey Epstein. Freeman, who previously testified in the George Floyd case, examined the autopsy photographs and identified what he describes as a serious error in the cause-of-death conclusion. His analysis focuses on the pattern of injuries and the force required to produce them, contradicting the Department of Justice and FBI's hanging narrative.

The review will be presented at a University College London Law Faculty gathering, where Freeman also pledged to make the complete autopsy dossier public, including unpublished documents and images. The effort follows earlier doubts voiced by pathologist Michael Baden, who noted neck fractures more typical of strangulation.

Why it matters

New forensic evidence could reshape public understanding of a high-profile death and influence ongoing investigations.
