Rep. Auchincloss vows to push impeachment of Defense Secretary Hegseth if Democrats win
Representative Jake Auchincloss said that, should Democrats regain control of Congress after the midterms, impeaching Secretary of War Pete Hegseth will become a top priority.
During a Thursday episode of MS NOW’s “On the Line,” Representative Jake Auchincloss warned that a Democratic majority in the upcoming midterm elections would trigger an effort to impeach Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. He condemned the president’s launch of the Middle East war as unilateral, lacking input from allies, Congress, or the cabinet. Auchincloss described Hegseth as corrupt, incompetent, and unable to define or execute a mission, warning that this undermines military order.
He urged the need for an investigation, oversight and, if the findings support it, a vigorous impeachment process. Host Alicia Menendez asked whether impeachment would be a priority, and Auchincloss affirmed that it should be pursued aggressively. The remarks were part of a broader call for congressional action to curb the president’s war powers.
Why it matters
