Rep LaMonica McIver Calls Trump administration overtly racist on TV

On MS NOW’s program “The Weeknight,” Democratic Representative LaMonica McIver asserted that the Trump administration is “extremely racist,” drawing on her personal experience with what she described as an unjust criminal-justice system. McIver, a young Black woman from Newark, said the administration deliberately targets Black women, using her own situation as an example of being singled out. She recounted an incident at Delaney Hall where she felt the administration was upset by her expression of power on behalf of her constituents.

Co-host Eugene Daniels prompted her to explain the weight she feels, to which she linked it to longstanding gaps faced by Black women in the country. McIver concluded that the administration’s actions reflect bigotry across multiple fronts. The interview underscored her belief that the current political climate is hostile toward Black female leaders.
