Rep. Lisa McClain backs Rep. Max Miller despite domestic abuse accusations

Rep. Lisa McClain said she hopes the abuse allegations against Rep. Max Miller are false and endorsed his reelection campaign.

During a televised interview, Rep. Lisa McClain, the fourth-highest-ranking Republican in the House, voiced confidence that the accusations made by Emily Moreno against Rep. Max Miller are untrue and pledged her support for his reelection. Moreno, who is the daughter of Sen. Bernie Moreno, alleges that Miller assaulted her and injured their two-year-old daughter. Miller has responded by releasing documents, including a controversial photo of the child, prompting a lawsuit from Moreno.

McClain emphasized Miller’s record on crime prevention and border security, and she urged the party to allow the investigative process to proceed while concentrating on winning back the House. House Speaker Mike Johnson also publicly backed Miller, despite other Republicans calling for his resignation.

Why it matters

The endorsement shows intra-party divisions over handling abuse allegations and could affect the GOP’s chances in a key Ohio district.
