Rep. Marcy Kaptur shares recovery update as Mitch McConnell stays out of view

Rep. Marcy Kaptur posted a photo and video describing her recovery after a hit-and-run, while former Senate leader Mitch McConnell has not appeared publicly since his June hospitalization.

After being struck in a hit-and-run while traveling to church in Toledo on Aug. 2, Rep. Marcy Kaptur posted a photo with a medical professional, thanking supporters for her healing and noting she would keep working via phone, Zoom and upcoming town halls. On Aug. 11 she shared a video stating she is recovering quickly and remains grateful for assistance. Meanwhile, former Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who was hospitalized on June 14, has not released a new video or appeared publicly for roughly 80 days, and details about his health are scarce.

Social-media users pointed out the stark contrast in transparency, with some urging McConnell’s team to provide more information. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has also called for greater clarity from McConnell, who has not responded to state leaders.
