Rep. Rashida Tlaib Holds Bitcoin and Ethereum Despite Opposing Crypto Bills
Rep. Rashida Tlaib's latest financial filing shows she owns Bitcoin and Ethereum in retirement accounts while voting against major crypto legislation.
A recent financial disclosure reveals that Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s retirement portfolios contain up to $15,000 each in a Grayscale Ethereum Staking Mini ETF and an iShares Bitcoin ETF, part of 41 separate assets. Her holdings are spread across a traditional IRA, a Roth IRA, and two college savings accounts, and she also reports mortgages up to $750,000, a Detroit rental property valued up to $250,000, and several international equity and bond funds.
Despite these investments, Tlaib voted against the pro-crypto CLARITY Act and backed a resolution aimed at prohibiting “crypto corruption.” The disclosure comes as Congress prepares to consider further crypto regulation, including the Senate’s upcoming vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. Tlaib declined to comment when approached for a statement.
