Rep. Walkinshaw says Iran’s nuclear ambitions pre-war were nonexistent
Representative James Walkinshaw told MS NOW’s “The Last Word” that Iran was not pursuing a nuclear bomb before the current conflict began and highlighted its ongoing missile launches.
On Monday’s episode of MS NOW’s “The Last Word,” Rep. James Walkinshaw argued that Iran was not actively seeking a nuclear weapon before the war started. He referenced the Trump administration’s pledges to topple the Iranian regime and eliminate its ballistic missile program, observing that neither promise has been fulfilled. Walkinshaw pointed out that Iran still conducts missile launches throughout the region.
He added that Tehran has learned it can control the Strait of Hormuz, giving it unprecedented pressure on global shipping. According to him, this leverage surpasses the influence the regime held during the 1979 hostage crisis. The remarks were made as part of a broader discussion on Iran’s strategic posture.
