Republican senators warn Senate crypto bill faces defeat next week

Republican members of the Senate say the bipartisan cryptocurrency regulation bill is unlikely to pass when the chamber reconvenes.

Senators Mike Rounds and Thom Tillis expressed doubt that the crypto bill will survive a vote next week, citing the lack of progress on a Democratic-sought ethics provision covering the president and his family. Democratic aides confirmed the ethics language remains unresolved. Another Republican, Roger Marshall, noted the legislation is not a priority for his constituents and receives little attention.

Why it matters

The bill's collapse could shape future crypto regulation and influence political campaign spending.
