Tony Sabio, a former Navy, Secret Service and CIA officer, is the Republican nominee set to face Democrat Don Beyer for Virginia’s 8th Congressional District seat in the November 3 election.
Former Navy serviceman Tony Sabio, who also served in the Secret Service and CIA, is the Republican contender aiming to unseat Democrat Rep. Don Beyer in Virginia’s 8th Congressional District. Born on Nov. 19, 1974, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Sabio was raised in San Diego and has called Virginia home for nearly 25 years, previously seeking a Fairfax County school board position. He ran unopposed in the Aug. 4 Republican primary, while Beyer won his party’s nomination with roughly 68% of the vote over four challengers.
Sabio’s campaign promotes a five-point “Promise for America” agenda focused on lowering energy bills, expanding job opportunities, prioritizing small businesses, enhancing community safety, and increasing health-care transparency. He emphasizes his faith and the Constitution as guiding principles and highlights his experience in both government and private-sector entrepreneurship. The two candidates will compete in the Nov. 3 general election for a district that includes Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church and parts of Fairfax County.
