Rescue Puppies Walk the Runway at New York Fashion Week to Find Homes

At Webster Hall in Manhattan, designers Rachel Antonoff and Susan Korn presented their third annual Dog-Slash-Fashion-Show as part of New York Fashion Week, highlighting puppies from the Chinatown rescue center Animal Haven. The runway featured celebrity pairings, including comedian Susie Essman, Broadway star Bebe Neuwirth and actress Victoria Pedretti, each walking with a dog awaiting adoption. Antonoff’s fall collection included trench coats printed with old newspaper classifieds, while Korn’s Susan Alexandra line offered beaded leashes, collars and miniature purses made from 200,000 beads.

Front-row seats were filled by Natasha Lyonne, B.J. Novak and Tony Award winner Ali Stroker. Adoption fees, often comparable to a designer dress, were waived and each adopted pet receives a $32 bottle of Ouai’s Fur Bebe shampoo. The show generated immediate interest, with multiple adoption requests filed during the event.
