Researcher claims the Great Pyramid encodes astronomical and mathematical data
Independent researcher Sefy Levy suggests that the dimensions of Egypt's Great Pyramid form a numerical code linked to lunar cycles, the calendar and planetary motions.
Sefy Levy, an independent scholar, has published a paper proposing that the Great Pyramid's external measurements encode a sophisticated numerical system reflecting lunar, solar and planetary cycles. By dividing key dimensions using ancient Egyptian fractions, he identifies values close to the 27.55-day lunar perigee interval and the roughly 70-day Sirius heliacal cycle, and notes apparent approximations of pi and the golden ratio.
To test randomness, Levy generated 100,000 virtual Old Kingdom-style pyramids, reporting that only 2,419 of them (about 2.4%) produced as many matches as the Great Pyramid. He interprets the monument as a permanent stone record of Egyptian knowledge of time and the heavens, and even links its purpose to a creation myth tied to the Eye of the Sahara in Mauritania. Egyptologists, however, continue to regard the pyramid as a tomb built for Khufu around 4,500 years ago, noting the lack of contemporary textual evidence for any encoded astronomy. The paper remains unpeer-reviewed and its conclusions are considered highly speculative.
