Reserve Association Calls for Excluding Saxony-Anhalt from National Security Plans

The president of the Reservistenverband, Bastian Ernst, demanded that Saxony-Anhalt be excluded from the national Operationsplan Deutschland, warning that the document could otherwise be passed to Russia. He cited the AfD as a major threat and suggested the plan be managed solely at the federal level, possibly housed within the Defence Ministry under strict access controls. Defence Minister Boris Pistorius had earlier advocated for the same exclusion, pointing to the alleged Russia-friendly stance of the AfD and BSW.

Conversely, Rainer Robra, head of the State Chancellery, warned that cutting the state off would undermine constitutionally required cooperation and affirmed that Saxony-Anhalt's Bundesrat membership remains intact in any defence scenario. The Operationsplan Deutschland outlines core defence measures for crisis or war and is coordinated by the Operatives Führungskommando of the Bundeswehr together with the Interior Ministry and the states.
