Around mid-afternoon, Border Patrol officers attempted to serve a federal arrest warrant at a residence in Oswego, Upstate New York, when the two targeted men climbed onto the roof to evade capture. Roughly fifty neighbors assembled, loudly demanding the agents release the suspects and even covering a reporter’s camera lens. Footage showed residents pulling one of the fugitives down from a narrow ledge and escorting him to the street, after which both men disappeared in waiting cars.
The nearby Charles E. Riley Elementary School was placed on lockout as a precaution, but the Oswego City Police Department later cleared the school and dismissed students. The standoff lasted about seven hours, and Border Patrol has not responded to requests for comment.
