Reynolds, Mac and Apollo add historic Wrexham pub to club portfolio
Ryan Reynolds, Rob Mac and Apollo Sports Capital have bought The Turf, a local pub overlooking Wrexham AFC’s stadium, to expand the club’s assets.
Wrexham AFC’s owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, partnered with Apollo Sports Capital to acquire The Turf, a pub that has long served fans at the Racecourse Ground. The purchase comes after the local council urged the club to regularise a training facility built without planning permission. Eric Allyn, representing the Allyn family’s minority stake, said the acquisition protects the pub’s heritage and deepens ties with supporters.
Wayne Jones, one outlet landlord, will continue operating the establishment. The club, which rose to the English Championship after the 2021 takeover, is also undergoing a regeneration of its Kop Stand and sits 14th in the league.
